New Apollo Probe for Fragile and Flexible Parts
Measuring flexible or fragile parts has always been a problem for traditional co-ordinate measuring machines (CMM). Using a standard touch trigger probe, the simple action of the probe touching the part can often change its shape, and in extreme cases cause damage to fragile components. The use of optical probing is often slow and time consuming, unless a specialist “non contact” measuring machine is available, involving significant investment with limited measuring capabilities.
The Apollo Probe is suitable for retrofit to all types of CMM. It is similar in size to the standard touch probe commonly seen on CMM’s, and requires no additional wiring on the CMM - in fact, installation is complete in a few minutes, after which the machine is ready to measure all types of components including soft plastics, thin walled materials, rubber, wax materials, foam and silicon parts, wire, etc.
