When Design Engineer Nigel Blair saw the Handyscan3D at a recent show, he immediately saw the potential for providing a 3D scanning service to his existing design customers. Within 2 months, En-Scan was born, and with the company formation came the UK's first user of the all-new EXAScan 3D scanner.

EXAScan is a handheld 3D scanner, that unlike all other scanning systems requires no secondary positioning equipment, such as cameras, a CMM, portable measuring arm, or laser tracker. This means the system is extremely portable, and is ready use within minutes of setting up.

In his work for award winning design consultancy Minima, Nigel regularly saw the need to provide high quality 3D scan data for reverse engineering and problem solving. During a visit to a local technology exhibition, he saw the Handyscan3D being demonstrated by Iain Caville, Managing Director of Measurement Solutions, the UK's leading Handyscan reseller. Very quickly, it became apparent to Nigel that there were very few companies offering scanning services that also had the design knowledge to understand the exact needs of companies like Minima. Hence, En-Scan was born !

Having achieved the backing of his partners at Minima, Nigel quickly moved to purchase the first EXAScan to be sold in the UK, with Measurement Solutions pulling out the stops to secure delivery before the year end.

From the beginning of 2008, En-Scan will be offering a range of affordable scanning services, with particular emphasis on design consultancies, art and design colleges, educational establishments, etc.
