Silma XG Offline CMM Programming

With the ever increasing demand to turn round parts faster than ever before, Silma XG® is able to offer any CMM user a completely closed loop solution, from original CAD data through to final part program, resulting in more productive CMM operation.

The Silma XG® Offline CMM Simulation module provides an easy to use environment for CMM programming directly from a CAD model, without the need for connection to a CMM - part programs are ready to run before the part has even been brought to the CMM. This means program development can run directly in line with part design and production.

The software operates in an identical manner to the standard "on-line" version of Metrolog XG®, such that a minimal amount of user training is required. This includes ;

bullet

a completely flexible user interface including user definable tool bars, multiple graphics windows, feature reporting, etc. - you define the way the software works to suit your measurement requirements

bullet

full integration of CAD surface models including IGES, VDA and direct import of models from CATIA, UniGraphics, ParaSolids, ProEngineer, etc., plus a powerful CAD management library enabling data to be easily manipulated (mirror, rotate, transform, change colours, solid render, layers, create an remove surfaces, etc.)

bullet

direct connection to CAD features, such that any changes in the CAD model are immediately reflected by automatic changes within the measuring program

bullet

automatic CNC measurement of ALL geometric features, including direct measurement from CAD data (just click and measure), probe path visualisation, numerous probing strategies to suit the application, feature detection (e.g. holes in planes), automatic selection of optimum probe angles, safety zones, etc.

bullet

direct selection of GD&T provides users with an easy way to generate the correct measuring strategy to meet GD&T requirements (available with CATIA V5 and ProE models)

bullet

full off-line simulation of the measuring program, including a virtual display of the machine and probe head configuration (including probe changers), automatic collision detection, automatic selection of optimum probe angles, and part program debugging before the part is ever made

bullet

100% DMIS compatible, with full coding to suit the latest DMIS standards, using only pure DMIS syntax without the need to translate into a "nearly-DMIS" version of the language

bullet

dramatic increases in productivity, as your measuring machine is always available to measure parts

Automatic probing tools provide the user with a complete tool box of measurement techniques in order to tackle the most complex measurement applications.

The software enables the user to simulate a vast range of measuring machines, so that part programs can be tested on a range of CMM's to ensure compatibility across different makes or types of machines. The operator also has the ability to generate his own "virtual" machine, such that every format of machine can be included. In this way, the possibility of probe crashes (including interference between the part, the holding fixture, probe changers and the machine frame) can all be tested prior to running the real part. In addition, by importing CAD models of fixtures, etc., the user can also include these in machine simulation to test for crashes. Machine simulations include ;

bullet

a complete range of the World's leading CMM models incl. Brown & Sharpe, DEA, Zeiss, LK, Wenzel, Johansson, Mora, etc.

bullet

user definable "generic" machines to suit specific applications, including bridge and horizontal arm machines

bullet

all current Renishaw probe heads, probes, probe and stylus changers plus a complete range of stylus configurations

bullet

a range of OEM probe heads and stylus sets, including Zeiss, Mora, etc.

Silma XG® is the ONLY way that you can fully utilise your CMM by freeing it do what it was meant to do - measure parts !
