The all new HandyScan3D family of scanners represents a major breakthrough in digital scanning technology.
HandyScan3D is the only self-positioning, hand-held laser scanner for digitising, reverse engineering & inspection applications. Its unique self-positioning capability makes 3D scanning simple and efficient, as all other systems require fixed-position tripods, bulky mechanical measuring arms, a fixed bed CMM, or expensive external positioning devices such as a laser tracker.
The Handyscan3D family consists of 2 individual scanners ;

All scanners within the HandyScan3D family utilise the same technology to offer users totally unique benefits. These include ;
automatic, self-orientation to the target object, without the need for secondary external measuring devices such as portable arms or tracking systems |
the ability to move the target object during scanning, without the need to manually stitch together individual scans |
a real-time, on-screen surface image of the object being scanned |
measurement of hard to reach surfaces without any problems at all |
the ONLY truly portable scanning device. |
These
capabilities make HandyScan3D ideally suited for scanning complex surfaces and
hard-to-reach areas e.g. car interiors. Data is captured in one continuous scan,
eliminating hours of post-processing time to compile and integrate static shots
into one seamless scan.
VXScan software, supplied with the scanner, automatically produces an .STL mesh file for import directly into a 3D CAD software package or a 3D printer. The user has complete control over the scanning process, and as the results are displayed "real-time", problem areas can be dealt with immediately to ensure the job is done right first time.
To scan an object, the user simply “paints” the surface using the HandyScan3D handheld unit - a visible projected laser crosshair guides the user over the surface. The point cloud is recorded by the scanner’s dual cameras, and the VXScan software immediately generates a polygon mesh of the surface on the computer screen in real time.
HandyScan3D is accurate to within ±0.05mm and detects changes in surface height down to 0.1mm.
Due to the fact that the unit is self-referencing, HandyScan3D can typically measure objects in 25% of the time required by fixed systems e.g. measuring arms. In addition, the VXScan software can generate an .STL mesh file in real time, so the many hours required to stitch, filter and clean the laser scans from a fixed unit are totally removed.
HandyScan3D is ideal for a wide range of applications, including ;
